We Have Questions About Intelligence

And we're pretty sure the answers aren't a number between 85 and 145.

What is FakeIQ?

FakeIQ is an internet experiment in questioning what intelligence really means. We write about brain teasers, IQ myths, cognitive science, and trivia so useless your brain will refuse to forget it.

The name is the point. Most "IQ tests" you'll find online are fake. Most IQ scores attributed to famous people are made up. And the entire concept of reducing human intelligence to a single number is, frankly, a bit of a scam. We think that's fascinating, and we think it's worth writing about in a way that's actually fun to read.

We're not psychologists (and we don't play ones on the internet). We're writers who fell down the rabbit hole of intelligence research and decided to build a site about it. Every article is researched, fact-checked against primary sources, and written to be genuinely entertaining -- not SEO filler designed to rank for "free IQ test online."

Our Philosophy

Intelligence is complicated. The history of trying to measure it is messy, often ugly, and occasionally hilarious. We think the best way to explore that complexity is with curiosity, humor, and a healthy skepticism of anyone who claims to have it all figured out.

We don't think IQ tests are useless -- they measure specific cognitive abilities under specific conditions, and that data has legitimate clinical applications. But we do think the cultural obsession with IQ as a single measure of human worth is harmful, unscientific, and ripe for satire.

So that's what we do. We write real articles about real science, but we keep it fun. Because if you can't laugh at the absurdity of a 10-question online quiz claiming to measure the totality of your cognitive potential, what are you even doing on the internet?
